President Sisi Presents ‘Sash of the Nile’ to Sultan al Bohra

President Sisi of Egypt confers the 'Sash of the Nile' on His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin

The President of Egypt, His Excellency Abd al-Fattah El Sisi presented the leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community, Sultan al Bohra Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, with the ‘Sash of the Nile’, the third-highest civilian honour of the country. The award is in appreciation of the Sultan’s continuous efforts in cultural, charitable and social causes in Egypt.

Sultan Saifuddin was accompanied during the meeting by his sons Shahzada Jafferusadiq Imadduddin, Shahzada Taha Najmuddin and Shahzada Husain Burhanuddin.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the General Intelligence Service, Abbas Kamel, and the representative of the Sultan in Cairo, Mufaddal Muhammad Hassan Ali.

During the meeting, President Sisi praised the Sultan’s efforts in restoring and renovating the shrines of Ahl al-Bayt and several historical Egyptian masjids. 

Sultan Saifuddin has contributed to the renovation and restoration of a number of historic masjids in Egypt, including the Al-Hussein, Al-Sayyeda Nafisa, and Al-Sayyeda Zeinab masjids.

The Sultan has also contributed to the Government’s Long Live Egypt (Tahya Misr) Fund initiative between 2014 and 2018.

The Sultan expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt and commended the President’s leadership for the development and progress of the nation.

He also lauded the president for promoting dialogue between peoples as part of the country’s openness to all religions going on to praise Egypt’s active regional and international role and support for Islamic world causes.
