Dubai Celebrates the Pinnacle of Quran Memorisation at Al Kiraam Al Bararah Hifz Competition

The Dawoodi Bohra community in Dubai takes immense pride in announcing the remarkable achievement of one of its young members, Burhanuddin Mustafa Qaida, who secured first place in the Al Kiraam Al Bararah Hifz competition.

The Al Kiraam Al Bararah Hifz competition is a Quran memorisation contest held to promote Islamic culture and the Arabic language among students. This event invites participants to demonstrate their proficiency in Hifz, the memorisation of the Quran.  Competitors are evaluated based on their ability to accurately and expressively recite verses from the Quran.

The competition is designed not only to encourage the memorisation of the Quran but also to deepen the participants’ understanding of its teachings and values.  It serves as a platform for young Muslims to connect with their faith and heritage, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth among the participants. Competitions like Al Kiraam Al Bararah Hifz underline the importance of preserving and passing on the Quranic tradition to future generations.

This year’s competition was particularly special for the Dawoodi Bohras as it not only highlighted the dedication of the community’s students to the Quran but also underscored the collaborative spirit that characterises their approach to education and spiritual growth.  With over 600 participants from 65 schools across Dubai, including 18 GEMS-affiliated schools, the event showcased the depth of talent and commitment to Quranic memorisation among students of various educational levels.

The evaluation process, overseen by a panel of imams and teachers accredited by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, was rigorous and based on specific criteria that ensured the highest standards of assessment.  It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the children, educators, and the entire community that Burhanuddin emerged victorious in this challenging competition.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed figures such as Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Hasher bin Dalmuk Al Maktoum and H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Qubaisi, Grand Mufti of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, highlighting the importance of the event in promoting Islamic values.  Mohammed Al Nabhan, the general coordinator of the competition and head of the Arabic Language and Islamic Studies Department at Jumeirah College, extended heartfelt gratitude to all contributors, including the Knowledge and Human Development Authority team led by Ms. Fatima Belraheef, Executive Director of the School Inspection Bureau.

This competition is more than just an academic contest; it is a celebration of Islamic heritage and its pivotal role in fostering peace and guidance across the globe.  It also aligns with the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, whose support has been fundamental in shaping the educational landscape of the emirate.

For the Dawoodi Bohra community, the victory of Burhanuddin Mustafa Qaida is not merely an individual accolade but a collective achievement that reflects the faith’s commitment to nurturing young minds in the path of faith, knowledge, and scholarship.  It marks a significant contribution to the Bohras’ efforts in preserving and promoting the rich traditions of Islam and the Arabic language in Dubai and beyond. This achievement is a beacon of light, guiding us towards a future where the values and teachings of Islam are cherished, upheld, and passed onto future generations with pride and dedication.
