Dawoodi Bohra communities across the United Arab Emirates marked the nation’s 54th National Day on 2 December, coming together in a shared expression of patriotism and belonging.
The celebrations reflected the national theme, Year of Community 2025, highlighting the importance of social cohesion, collective responsibility, and active civic participation—values the Dawoodi Bohra community continues to uphold across the country.
Celebrations across the Emirates
In Abu Dhabi, the community gathered at the Mohammadi Masjid complex for a flag-hoisting ceremony. His Excellency Brigadier Hadar Khalaf Al Muhairi joined the congregation as they paid tribute to the nation and its leadership.

In Sharjah, the community raised the national flag in the presence of Chief Guest Adil Karam, Mission Captain of the Sharjah Scouts.
Acknowledging the community’s consistent participation in national observances, Mr. Karam noted his annual presence at these celebrations, including Martyrs’ Day, and said, “I take part in these celebrations every year, and I extend my sincere appreciation to everyone involved in organising these events for our young nation.”

In Dubai, the celebrations centred on values of harmony and progress. The event highlighted the community’s ongoing contribution to the UAE’s national journey and its commitment to supporting the Emirates’ continued growth and prosperity.

Cultural tributes
Cultural tributes formed an integral part of the celebrations, reflecting the Dawoodi Bohra community’s connection with the UAE.
At the Saifee Masjid complex in Deira, the SEZ Brass Band, comprising community members, performed the UAE National Anthem along with other ceremonial melodies, marking the occasion with a traditional presentation.

Members of the community also contributed original Arabic poetry in honour of the nation.

Zainab Afsar from Abu Dhabi wrote a poem inspired by the sentiment that 'love of the nation is an integral part of faith,' offering prayers for the protection of the land and continued wisdom for its leadership.
Abbas Haji from Sharjah composed verses describing the UAE as a nurturing mother and a homeland of generosity and peace, celebrating the unity of the seven Emirates under one flag.
A vision for the future
Beyond the immediate festivities, the occasion served as an opportunity for reflection and optimism. Community messages expressed gratitude for the UAE as a nation that is building a hopeful future.
As the nation enters its 55th year, the Dawoodi Bohra community continues to pray for the UAE’s lasting peace, prosperity, and success.
