At the tender age of 13, Hatim Aziz Fanaswala is not only a name amongst his peers in Ajman but also an inspiring figure in the Dawoodi Bohra community. With a passion for water that seems to run as deep as the ocean, Hatim has transformed his love for the beach, fishing, and water sports into a journey of discipline, focus, and excellence.
From the age of six, Hatim's natural affinity for swimming was evident. Under the guidance of his coach, Jeffery, Hatim did not just learn to swim; he mastered all the strokes with a finesse that belied his years. Today, he is a promising talent training at the All Stars Academy and has proudly become a part of the UAE Swimming Federation.
But for Hatim, swimming transcends the boundaries of sport. "Swimming is so much more than a sport; it's a lifestyle and a skill that requires discipline, focus, and consistency," he says. His belief in the transformative power of swimming is profound, advocating that it is a life skill everyone should acquire.
Hatim trains for over 15 hours spread over six days a week, including intense fitness sessions. He has won numerous swimming competitions, and has almost 40 medals to show for it.

The wisdom of the young champion echoes in the quotes that inspire him. "Never say never, because limits like fears are often just an illusion," he recites with conviction. This maxim has propelled him to extend his boundaries and achieve what once seemed unreachable. Another quote that fuels his commitment to the sport is, "Your lack of commitment is almost an insult to the people who believe in you." It is a reminder that the pursuit of excellence is not just a personal journey but also a tribute to those who support and believe in one's potential.
Balancing his rigorous training schedule with academics, Hatim is a student at Sharjah English School, where he also competes in Emirates International School Sports Association (EISSA) competitions. His competitive spirit is not confined to the pool; he channels the same energy into badminton, showcasing his versatility as an athlete.
Hatim's story is not just about sports; it is about the relentless pursuit of excellence and the Dawoodi Bohra community's core values—perseverance, discipline, and commitment. As a community, the Dawoodi Bohras take immense pride in his accomplishments and the inspiring path he is carving for himself and many young Bohras to follow.
In a world where the tides of challenges keep coming, Hatim Aziz Fanaswala stands as a beacon of inspiration, teaching us that with the right stroke, one can not only stay afloat but also ride the waves to glory.
