On September 21, 2026, in Surat, the University of Kufa has conferred an honorary doctorate on Sultan al-Bohra Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community, in recognition of his contributions to academic excellence, cultural preservation and social welfare.

The degree was conferred at a ceremony in Burhani Baug, Dummas, by an Iraqi delegation led by Prof. Dr Hayder Abed Dhahad, Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr Alaa Naji Almawla, President of the University of Kufa.
